The enemy began preparations for the assault in advance. In order to complicate the mining of the routes of advance, the enemy set up observation posts to detect and destroy the drones of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The enemy command also tried to change the tactics of the offensive. If earlier columns of enemy armored vehicles with infantry advanced from the depths of their own combat formations, this time the enemy tried to pull the equipment closer to Shakhove and hide it in the forest on October 15. The maneuver proved unsuccessful: two units of armored vehicles were detected by intelligence and destroyed by artillery and FPV drones of the Unmanned Systems Forces before they could even try to hide in the forest.
On October 16, thanks to the advance engineering equipment of the positions, effective mining and coordinated actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces - primarily artillery crews of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as the crews of the Unmanned Systems Forces - the enemy attack was thwarted.

In August 2024, the duty was raised again, from 20 to 25%, and its minimum threshold increased to two dollars per liter.
Excise taxes on alcohol also increased: for still wines they rose from 32 rubles per liter in 2021 to 108 rubles in 2024, for sparkling wines - from 41 to 119 rubles. In fact, these taxes are paid only by importers, domestic winemakers return excise taxes through a tax deduction.
